Format and Style of Articles

General Format:
Manuscripts should be supplied as a Word file (or similar) with figures in separate files (tiff, PDF, jpeg, Photoshop, or Powerpoint format are acceptable for figures)

Headings: Headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in bold type. Sub-headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in italics. Sub-sub-headings should be at the left margin, lower case and in plain text (no bold or italics).

English: All manuscripts must be written in perfect English. Before you submit, please ensure that your manuscript is corrected by someone who speaks English as their first language.

Abstract: Each paper must include an abstract. Abstracts should be 100-200 words.

Reviews: Review articles should be sub-divided into the following sections: Abstract * Introduction * The main text of the paper * Acknowledgements * References

Mini-reviews: Mini-reviews should be 2-5 pages in length and should include an abstract and reference section. Sub-sections specifying topic are permissible.

References: References should be cited in the text in parentheses in order of date, as follows (Logan et al., 2009; Goncalvez et al., 2010). The reference list should be in alphabetical order. Follow the style indicated:

Article in a journal:
Chambers, J.P., Arulanandam, B.P., Matta, L.L., Weis, A., and Valdes, J.J. (2008). Biosensor recognition elements. Curr. Issues Mol. Biol. 10, 1-12.
Chapter in a book:
Goncalvez, A.P., Purcell, R.H., and Lai, C.-J. (2010). Progress in passive immunotherapy. In Frontiers in Dengue Virus Research, K.A. Hanley and S.C. Weaver, eds. (Norfolk, UK: Caister Academic Press), pp. 265-297.
An entire book:

Users of EndNote or Reference Manager should adopt the reference style of the journal "Cell" which is identical to ours.
It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain permission for personal communications and a letter of permission should be enclosed with the manuscript.

Submission

Current Issues in Molecular Biology (CIMB) is a peer-reviewed, full open access journal. This means that all articles are freely available online throughout the world, to read, download, copy, distribute, and use, without charge.

To provide open access, the cost of producing CIMB is met by charging an Article Processing Charge to the authors or research sponsors for each article published.

Articles in CIMB are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License. Under this license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their article, but authors allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles as long as the original authors and source are credited.

CIMB is committed to maintaining high standards and manuscripts are subjected to peer review.
